Site set up!

So, here is an initial mock-up of an online VSSN Members Directory using social network technology (with thanks to the good folks at ning.com, as it's free - hence the adverts we need to tolerate for now). What do you think of this experimental pilot online membership directory? Comments, suggestions and feedback is welcome - see the Forum posting. We cannot control *everything* that appears here but Ning can be "tweaked" a little so we may be able to go along with suggestions and requests...

Thanks for your feedback and support. I also think that this site looks great (thanks to Nick). I take your helpful points. With regards to a 'work-in-progress', I can tweak the wording to reflect this, but cannot add an additional question, as we are limited to 10. For example, I would like to find a way of getting a question on 'What events does your organisation hold? AGMs, Conferences, ...', but will need to liaise further with Nick to see if we might be able to rationalise anything. Given our discussion so far, this is unlikely.

The other issue might be to hold fire until we have piloted this with the SG, and incorporate their comments. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

I think this is a vast improvement from the directory we currently have on the VSSN website - people are never quite sure what they should do to be included on the online version of the directory. I'm assuming with this version every member will be sent an invite to join.

Maybe we can ask people to provide information on what they are currently working on (i.e: work in progress) in addition to their specific interests, their other involvement in the sector and their most recent publications. Just a thought!
