With Meta Zimmeck and Bill Rushbrooke I have formed a research consultancy called Practical Wisdom R2Z.Our first major project was a summative evaluation of the Compact for the Commission for the Compact before it was culled by the Coalition government. My personal news

I am now working on a critical review of theory and practice in the voluntary and community sector provisionally entitled Rethinking Voluntary Action and will be a co-editor with David Horton Smith and Robert Stebbings of a Handbook on Volunteering and Nonprofit Membership Associations which is scheduled for publication in 2014.I have also left Roehampton University after 12 years and have become an Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck College since 1st July.See More

With George Campbell Gosling, Alison Penn and Meta Zimmeck I have just signed up with Sussex Academic Press to produce an edited book based on contributions to the last Voluntary Action History Society International Conference. The book will be published in March 2011 under the title Understanding the Roots of Voluntary Action: Historical perspectives on current social policy.See More

My personal news
